All About Balcony Blinds
Outdoor balcony blinds are the simplest way to turn a Perth apartment or multi-storey balcony into a space you actually use: shade from the afternoon sun, shelter from wind and rain, and privacy from the neighbours, all without losing the view. Reclaim your balcony with Vistaweave® 95 mesh and Ziptrak®, Australia's safest balcony blind system, and connect your indoor and outdoor areas year round.
Uniquely certified to meet the highest safety standards of the National Construction Code (NCC), our balcony blinds take the worry out of non-compliance, insurance questions and disputes with your strata company or body corporate.
Certified safety. Architecturally loved. Life expanded.

NCC Certified. Lifestyle Approved
For decades, Vistaweave® mesh and Ziptrak® have set the benchmark for Australian exterior blinds. Now, they define the standard for apartment safety. The pairing of Vistaweave 95 mesh and the Ziptrak® guided blind system has been certified by an independent Fire Engineer for use on multi-storey balconies.
Unlike non-compliant systems that pose a fire risk, Vistaweave 95 mesh safely shrivels and contracts without catching or spreading fire. Additionally, the non-combustible aluminium Ziptrak® frame doesn't contribute to fire spread or create dangerous falling debris.
All Season Comfort, Style and Savings
External balcony blinds are a clever way to make apartment balconies more energy efficient by blocking the sun's heat and glare before it hits the glass. Balcony sun shades provide comfort and connection, keeping balconies cooler in summer and warmer in winter, and make it easy to turn an exposed balcony into a usable living space while reducing energy costs.
Are Balcony Blinds Waterproof?
Not fully, mesh balcony blinds are water resistant rather than waterproof. The tight 5% weave of Vistaweave® 95 sheds the majority of wind-driven rain, so your balcony furniture, flooring and doorway stay dry through a normal Perth winter. It is a breathable fabric by design though, so in heavy sideways rain some moisture will get through.
For apartments and any balcony above the first floor, Vistaweave® 95 is the only fabric certified for multi-storey use, so it is the fabric we install. On houses, townhouses and ground or first floor balconies we can also offer the denser Vistaweave® 99 and Vistaweave® Max weaves for extra rain and privacy performance, or clear PVC where you want a fully sealed, rain-proof enclosure.
Privacy and Shade Without Losing the View
Balcony blinds are as much about privacy and sun as they are about weather. During the day the 5% openness mesh lets you see out while making it very hard for neighbours and passers-by to see in, and it stops heat and glare before it reaches your glass doors, so the room behind the balcony stays cooler too.
At night the effect reverses when your balcony lights are on, so if evening privacy is the priority, a darker mesh colour is the better choice. Either way the blind itself is simple to live with: a track-guided outdoor roller blind that pulls down to any height and locks at the bottom, or motorised operation by remote or app for wide and high openings.
