All About Roof to Fence Blinds
Our Roof to Fence Blinds are a great way to extend your entertainment area or providing privacy along side your house.
Roof to Fence Blinds also help by keeping the hot sun of your windows (e.g Bathroom and Bedroom windows) whilst allowing you to retract the blinds back at any time of the year.
Using quality HVG fabrics like Visiontex® with an openness factor of 5% you can block out those harmful UV rays but still allow natural light to filter through. If it is privacy you are after, we recommend HVG Fabrics Ultra® with an openness factor of 1%.
For all those green thumbs out there, what a great way of protecting your plants and for the pet lovers you cant find a better way to make a cool corridor for your pooch on those hot summer days.
Our Roof to Fence Blinds are manufactured right here in Perth and come with our 5 year warranty. They are simply an elegant and attractive way to enhance your home and add value for years to come.

Frequently Asked Questions
The weight and weave density of the mesh will influence the level of transparency, UV and rain protection. AS Roof to Fence Blinds are mounted at an angle rain will be diverted but as they are a porous mesh the water will flow through.
Depending on the type of mesh however, you can still expect a 70-90% protection from wind, sun and UV.
In windy conditions, Roof to Fence Blinds should be left down and locked, or fully retracted. During severe weather events, your blinds should be fully retracted.
You may find Roof to Fence Blinds are a little tricky to operate during windy conditions due to the pressure of the wind on the blind material. Use your hand to push against the blind material to reduce this pressure and then operate the blind.
Care must be taken when operating Rootf to Fence Blinds in windy conditions.
- Keeping the Sunscreen mesh or PVC clean is an important part of maintenance to the blind.
- Clean the blind with a soft cloth and soapy cold water. Allow to dry before rolling up
- We recommend VuPlex® for PVC blind cleaning and maintenance. Depending on the type of PVC installed, there may be manufacturer instructions on how to best maintain that specific PVC
- PVC will show marks more readily than fabric, so ensure you are treating the surface with care. Be careful to avoid scratching the PVC material
- Ideally, PVC blinds should be dryed with a cloth for the best cleaning results
- Never apply full strength detergents, cleaning fluids, soaps, insecticides or garden sprays to the blind material
- Never use bore water to clean the material, or allow bore water sprinkler systems to hit the blind
- Never allow petrochemicals or solvents to touch the blind surface
- Do not use a high-pressure hose to clean the blind
- Do not use window cleaning detergents to clean the blind
- Do not allow bird droppings, dirt or stains to remain on the material
If you are looking at having some airflow, but primarily block sun and glare, then shade materials will be most effective. Sunscreen mesh materials can block a high degree of wind and rain (up to about 96%), whilst also somewhat maintaining the temperature within your space.
Sunscreen mesh fabrics provide privacy during the day, allowing you to see outside but restrict the view into the outdoor area. At night, the opposite occurs; you won’t be able to see beyond the fabric, whilst someone standing outside will clearly be able to see in if you have a light on within your outdoor area.

The aluminium frame system has not been tested for ‘residual noise’. To find out more about the Roof to Fence Blinds and their physical properties, please contact us or the mesh/PVC manufacturer.
Most Roof to Fence Blinds do not require council approval as they are not a “fixed structure”. We do however recommend you seek advice from your particular council prior to installation.
Buildings in a community group or managed by a strata may have restrictions that you should consider before deciding to install outdoor blinds.
We can provide a price guide based on house plans however we would require an on-site inspection prior to finalising an installation price to ensure we are installing a system perfectly suited to your situation.
To arrange a quote off house plans please send through the details to info@allaboutshade.com.au
Cat’s as a general rule don’t seem interested in the mesh used on Roof to Fence Blinds however we can’t guarantee your cat doesn’t have a vendetta against the new outdoor blinds.
The Mesh we use is of the highest quality and can withstand a high degree of punishment but damage from pets is not covered by the warrantee.
