Great customer service from this company - right from when they came to Corrigin to give me a quote to when the product was installed. I am very happy with my blinds and I am now able to sit under my patio on sunny, windy or rainy days. I would highly recommend All About Shade and thanks go to them for being one of the few Perth based companies willing to travel out of the metro area.
Connie Philipps
We are extremely happy with the service and installation and quality of the blinds to our outdoor area. We have already recommended All About Shade to several people in Perth, Bunbury and other country areas.

Awesome salesman who came to the house, friendly and helpful. Loves a good cup. The instillation was professional and the guy's arrived on time, explained how controls etc worked clearly. Brilliant company and I would highly recommend them to friends

Product quality and professionalism are terms that have to be used in a review of services provided by All About Shade. Apart from those terms, we appreciated the friendly efficiency shown by people in the Company, from office staff to on-site crew. The blinds we had installed provided protection for our rear patio, and the site had some awkward points - a sloping roofline and a low retaining wall on one side. Nonetheless, measurements taken before making of the blinds proved to be precise, and the fitting crew carried out the work with expertise. My wife and I are happy to recommend All About Shade and their work. We've come to think of them as less of a company entity, than as a family of people determined to provide a quality service.
Les Krauth
very professional from beginning to installasion was very happy with result

We loved how quickly they got the ball rolling for us, they travelled from Perth to Tambellup within 1 week of us calling to complete a measure and quote, the blinds were custom made and installed within 3 weeks after the first phone call. The finished product looks great and has made a huge difference with wind and bugs in our outdoor space! The team at All About Shade are professionals and genuinely nice people!

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the maximum dimensions for Ziptrak® Outdoor Blinds?

The recommended maximum dimensions for Ziptrak® blinds are 6000mm wide by 3500mm high when using Sunscreen Mesh, or 5500mm wide by 3500mm high when using Clear PVC. Ziptrak® components including the top tube, spring and bottom bar are upgraded in size, and therefore strength, as the blind becomes larger. This allows the Ziptrak® system to perform at all sizes up to 6 meters, providing ease-of-use and superior wind performance.

Ziptrak® Fabricators will automatically upgrade the components of your system in order to strength your custom-made blind for larger openings. Importantly, there may be a difference between the size and appearance of the tube, pelmet or bottom bar, that should be considered when installing a large blind and small blind next to each other. Depending on the size of the blind and choice of material, there may be a single or multiple vertical seams between separate panels of blind material that have been welded together.

Ziptrak® is known in the industry for being a strong and robust outdoor blind system with premium wind performance and longevity.

How much rain do Ziptrak® Outdoor Blinds keep out?

Ziptrak® blind system along with Mesh or PVC skins, shield you, your patio and furniture from wind, rain, glare and insects. Ziptrak® outdoor blinds will accommodate for a variety of sunscreen fabrics including woven mesh.

The weight and weave density of the mesh will influence the level of transparency, UV and rain protection. Depending on the type of mesh, you can expect a 70-90% protection from rain, wind, sun and UV.

Clear and tinted PVC offers a completely rain and wind proof surface.

Do Ziptrak® Outdoor Blinds keep the wind out and how do they handle windy conditions?

The strong and robust Ziptrak® system is commonly installed throughout coastal regions and locations prone to high winds. If you are considering the wind speed, or wind rating for Ziptrak®, please take note of the following information:

In windy conditions, blinds should be left down and locked, or fully retracted – halfway is the most vulnerable position. During severe weather events, your blinds should be fully retracted.

You may find Ziptrak® spring-balanced blinds are a little tricky to operate during windy conditions due to the pressure of the wind on the blind material. Use your hand to push against the blind material to reduce this pressure and then operate the blind.

Care must be taken when operating motorized Ziptrak® blinds in windy conditions. They must be supervised whilst raising and lowering at all times.

What is the best colour fabric to choose to be able to see out of the best and give more privacy?

If you are looking at having some airflow, but primarily block sun and glare, then shade materials will be most effective. Sunscreen mesh materials can block a high degree of wind and rain (up to about 96%), whilst also somewhat maintaining the temperature within your space.

Sunscreen mesh fabrics provide privacy during the day, allowing you to see outside but restrict the view into the outdoor area. At night, the opposite occurs; you won’t be able to see beyond the fabric, whilst someone standing outside will clearly be able to see in if you have a light on within your outdoor area.

To find out more about the wide variety of mesh types and brands view the Visiontex® Range here or please contact us to find out more.

Can I have motorised Ziptrak® blinds?

Yes. Motorisation of Ziptrak® blinds is a popular and convenient option for many people. Only Ziptrak® blinds with a SunScreen blind material can be motorised, using 240V/AC tubular motor with an obstacle detection feature. Motorisation is a good choice if the blind is mounted in a difficult to reach place, or regularly operated by people that will have troubles manually operating it.

For commercial applications, motorisation is perfect for operating a large number of blinds at once.

Strong wind can hold the material of a Ziptrak® blind preventing it from sliding down the tracks, therefore, we recommend that motorised Ziptrak® blinds will be supervised by the operator while they are moving.

If I go for Motorised Outdoor Blinds, can I manually put up or down the blind in a power cut?

The spring balanced Ziptrak® blind allow customers to put the blinds up and down manually without any hassle.

Motorised blinds need the motor to pull the skin up or down. Only if your motorised blind has a battery or solar panel that could still supply electricity on a power cut, you might be able to manipulate your motorised blinds.

What do the Hoodboxes/Pelmets do?

A pelmet (hood box or cassette) encloses and protects the system from weather and creatures, ensuring your blinds will look great and operate effortlessly for years. It is highly recommended for blinds installed outside of the structure.

The new Ziptrak® Streamline Pelmet with Insect Control system is 60% thicker; completely aluminium rust-free; perfect for coastal conditions; has a discrete design and sleek appearance and can come with a Unique Insect Control System*.

Can you put a Ziptrack® blind on an angle?

Ziptrak® blinds must always be installed by an experienced Ziptrak® installer to ensure they are installed perfectly square. The Ziptrak® system doesn’t work installed as bottom up, horizontally or on an angle. The specially designed spring tension system works only vertically (pulled up and down) as it uses gravity and tension forces.

If the ground slopes or you need increased weather/dust resistance, retailers can offer a custom-made skirt or valance to cover the gap when the blind is locked down.

Is it possible to install Ziptrak® blinds if the opening is more than 6000mm?

Yes, Ziptrak® blinds can easily span large openings. There are two options if your opening exceeds the maximum recommendation for a single blind:

  1. A permanent post
  2. A Ziptrak® removable post

These options allow you to have two or more Ziptrak® blinds next to one another with a separating post. Either post can be provided in both steel or aluminium and powder coated to match the other Ziptrak® hardware (side tracks, pelmet and bottom bar). The Ziptrak® removable post can be uninstalled within 60 seconds and offers a completely open span once removed.

What warranty comes with the blinds?

All About Shade provide a 5-year warrantee on all installations. Additionally:

Ziptrak® provides a 24-month warranty of all the components of the Ziptrak® Outdoor or Interior system. This warranty is supplied to fabricators, retailers and installers of Ziptrak® blinds who purchase the components from Ziptrak Pty. Ltd., or an Authorised Ziptrak® components distributor.

Ziptrak® does not manufacture or supply the skin/fabric (mesh or PVC) utilised in a blind.  As a result, the skin is not part of the Ziptrak® system and are not included under Ziptrak® componentry warranty.

HVG Fabrics provide a 10-year warrantee on the mesh supplied with your Ziptrak® Outdoor Blinds.

Please directly contact us event of any queries or warranty claims.

Do Ziptrak® Outdoor Blinds keep out residual noise?

The aluminium frame system has not been tested for ‘residual noise’. To find out more about the skin materials of your Ziptrak® blinds and their physical properties, please contact us or the mesh/PVC manufacturer.

Do you need council approval for Ziptrak® Outdoor Blinds?

For Ziptrak® blinds, generally most councils do not require residents to apply for approval for the installation of outdoor blinds. However, seek independent advice specific to your given council and requirements. Buildings in a community group or managed by a strata may have restrictions that you should consider before deciding to install outdoor blinds.

Can you do a quote from house plans?

We can provide a price guide based on house plans however we would require an on-site inspection prior to finalising an installation price to ensure we are installing a system perfectly suited to your situation.

To arrange a quote off house plans please send through the details to info@allaboutshade.com.au

Will my cat shred the fabric?

Cat’s as a general rule don’t seem interested in the mesh used on Ziptrak® Outdoor Blinds, Folding Arm Awnings, Auto Lock Awnings, or Roof to Fence Blinds however we can’t guarantee your cat doesn’t have a vendetta against the new outdoor blinds.
The Mesh we use is of the highest quality and can withstand a high degree of punishment but damage from pets is not covered by the warrantee.

We can if you require install a Ziptrak® Outdoor Blinds Doggy / Cat door in your setup if you require which may help.

If there is a panel damaged to the point where it is not useable please contact us and we can arrange to supply and install a new mesh screen for that section.

For any other issues with your Outdoor blind system, please contact us, and we will be able to assist in the event of any queries or warranty claims.

What are outdoor track guided blinds?

Ziptrak® is a patented outdoor track guided blind system, invented in Australia. Most blinds allow a user to lower and raise the blind, utilising the material of the blind to provide light control and privacy. Track guided blinds take this a step further, securing the blind material at the left and right within vertical tracks.

The blind material is always held within these tracks, and the tracks are mounted to the wall. This results in a protective layer that controls the flow of air and restricts dust, dirt and insects from entering. The blind won’t flap in the wind and there is no unsightly cords, ropes or latches. The sealed system allows the user to trap warmth within their outdoor area during winter and block the heat from entering during summer.

There is a bar at the bottom of the material, which the user controls with their hand or via a remote for motorised operation. The bottom bar can be left at any height along the track. When fully retracted the blind rolls into itself at the very top, hidden by an optional pelmet. When fully down, the bottom bar locks (outdoor blinds only) at the lowest point to secure the blind, providing a secure and tensioned hold. Non-motorised blinds are spring balanced, so that the weight of the blind material is substantially reduced for the user. This results in a blind that can be lowered or retracted at the touch of a finger.

Why should I choose Ziptrak® over say Zipscreen, Shadetrack, or other similar products?

Ziptrak® is a brand of outdoor track guided blinds, protected under patent and invented in Australia. Ziptrak® blinds are trusted by thousands of Australian homes and businesses to provide an enjoyable outdoor living space. The strong and robust system is commonly installed throughout coastal regions and locations prone to high winds. Customers should check whether they are purchasing a genuine Ziptrak® system.

Ziptrak® is the leading brand of outdoor blinds, with a range of differences to competitor products, which combined, make a considerable difference in the operation and longevity of your system. Over 800 retailers in Australia stock our brand, whilst we also export to international markets. Ziptrak® is the trusted solution by thousands of households and businesses around the world, demanding a robust, long-lasting and easy to use outdoor blind.

Only Ziptrak® blinds have a centre-lock-release, which allows you to unlock both the left and right locks simultaneously from the middle. We are also the only system that allows you to lock and unlock the blind from both the inside and outside.

Next, Ziptrak® also has a unique method for attaching the blind material to the vertical tracks. We only utilise the finest materials with exceptional engineering and a patented design. Our system has a strong reputation within the industry, and is often imitated but never duplicated. This results in a secure hold, even with minor house movement and wind pressure on the fabric. The Ziptrak® system will not rattle in the wind, unlike many of the other brands. We also have unique optional extras such as the SolarSmart 100% solar power motorised operation.

**Installation is crucial to determining the performance of your Ziptrak® blinds**

Can Ziptrak® outdoor blinds be locked?

The bottom bar locks into position with two locks at the bottom left and bottom right in order to keep the blind fully down and secured in high winds. If you are outside of the outdoor area and you would like to be able to unlock the blind, ask your retailer for a “reverse lock” addition to your centre-lock-release system. This will allow you to operate the centre-lock-release which faces the inside of your entertaining area, although you are on the outside.

These locks are not designed for use as a security measure. The blind system should not be used as barriers for babies or children. The centre-lock-release mechanism is not child-proof.

How do I clean my Ziptrak® Outdoor Blinds?
  • Keeping the Sunscreen mesh or PVC clean is an important part of maintenance to the blind.
  • Clean the blind with a soft cloth and soapy cold water. Allow to dry before rolling up
  • We recommend VuPlex® for PVC blind cleaning and maintenance. Depending on the type of PVC installed, there may be manufacturer instructions on how to best maintain that specific PVC
  • PVC will show marks more readily than fabric, so ensure you are treating the surface with care. Be careful to avoid scratching the PVC material
  • Ideally, PVC blinds should be dryed with a cloth for the best cleaning results
  • Never apply full strength detergents, cleaning fluids, soaps, insecticides or garden sprays to the blind material
  • Never use bore water to clean the material, or allow bore water sprinkler systems to hit the blind
  • Never allow petrochemicals or solvents to touch the blind surface
  • Do not use a high-pressure hose to clean the blind
  • Do not use window cleaning detergents to clean the blind
  • Do not allow bird droppings, dirt or stains to remain on the material
How do I operate my Ziptrak® Outdoor Blinds?
  • For hand-operated manual (spring-balanced) Ziptrak® outdoor blinds, always operate the blind from the centre. This will ensure the material rolls evenly onto the top tube
  • Motorised Ziptrak® blinds should be supervised whilst in motion. Avoid operating the blind in high winds, as the motor will have difficulty moving the blind whilst wind pressure is against the material
  • During high winds Ziptrak® blinds should be left either fully retracted onto the top tube, or fully down and locked at the bottom. During extreme weather events, Ziptrak® blinds should be fully retracted onto the top tube
  • Blinds may have difficulty operating whilst in windy conditions, due to pressure against the blind material. Use your hand to push against the blind material to reduce this pressure and then operate the blind
  • Avoid rolling up blinds when they are wet or have condensation on the surface. Moisture within the rolled up blind material may cause mold to form
  • Ziptrak® outdoor blinds should always be smooth and simple to operate. If the blind is difficult to operate for no obvious reason, please contact us
