Installed in: Safety Bay, 6169
This Safety Bay home has a great gable-roof alfresco off the back, looking straight out over the lawn and garden beds. The trouble was that two sides were wide open, so the coastal breeze, the afternoon sun and the odd shower all came straight in. The patio had also been reworked since the family first enquired, so the blinds needed to be measured to suit the new structure.

Three Ziptrak® Outdoor Blinds now wrap the open sides. The main run is a wide blind of just over 6m, fitted with an Alpha motor and remote so it can be lowered at the touch of a button. Two shorter manual blinds close off the returns on either side. Each blind sits under the beam in an aluminium hood box, with new 50×50 aluminium posts and trims where the structure needed them.
The blinds are made up in Vistaweave® 99 mesh in Ebony with all aluminium components powder coated in Black. It’s a sharp, modern look against the white breeze-block screens and lined gable ceiling, and the dark mesh gives strong privacy and 99% UV block while still letting the garden views come through. Every blind carries an extra heavy duty base rail to keep the fabric sitting flat and taut in the wind, and a Bug Guard brush seal at the top helps keep insects out on warm evenings.

With the blinds down, the alfresco becomes a proper outdoor room. It’s shaded, sheltered and private, but it still feels connected to the backyard. When the weather is good, the blinds roll away and the space opens straight back up.
For an alfresco like this one, Ziptrak® Outdoor Blinds can help:
- Block up to 99% UV and cut the heat and glare of the afternoon sun
- Shelter the space from coastal winds and passing showers
- Add privacy from neighbouring properties without losing the view
- Keep insects out with a Bug Guard seal at the top of the blind
- Give easy push-button control on the widest opening with a motorised blind
- Turn an open patio into a space that can be used all year-round
