Piara Waters’ newer blocks don’t leave much room to move, and this backyard was no exception, a narrow side strip running past a built-in BBQ and garden bed, hemmed in by the fence on one side and the patio roofline on the other. Rather than write that space off as unusable, two Roof to Fence Blinds turned it into an extension of the outdoor living space.
Two Roof to Fence Blinds, one running 4.7m and the other 3.7m, both dropping 2.4m from the roofline down to fence height, now close the side gap in a Genoa mesh with 96% UV protection, framed in Basalt. Fixed straight onto the outside timber beam and matched down to the same height as the boundary fence, the blinds read as part of the original build rather than an add-on.
Because the space runs hard up against the fence line, the trims were finished with an annex strip on the outside edge, and one blind was fixed with staples directly onto the wall to keep the line clean where it meets the house. Both blinds are operated manually with a simple crank handle.
