Kardinya | Ziptrak® Cable Guided Blinds Tackle a Tricky, Angled Alfresco

Installed in: Kardinya, 6163

City of Melville

This Kardinya home had a lot going for it. A gable-roofed alfresco with a wood-fired pizza oven and outdoor kitchen, a second patio wrapping around toward the pool, and a great elevated outlook over the surrounding rooftops and treetops.

The challenge was the roofline itself. Between the pitched gable ends and the angled corners linking the two patio sections, a standard track system was never going to sit flush.

Ziptrak® Cable Guided Blinds solved it. Rather than running in a fixed aluminium track, cable guided blinds follow a wire guide instead. That means they can be shaped to fit awkward angles, pitched gables and tight corners that a standard Ziptrak simply can’t.

Across both patio sections, the blinds now sit neatly against every angled opening. The sun gets cut back without the blinds having to fight the roofline.

The pizza oven, sink and cabinetry all sit right under the gable, and sun and heat were doing real damage to that corner of the space over summer. The blinds now shade the whole outdoor kitchen through the hottest part of the day, so that investment stays protected rather than baking in direct sun.

Around the corner, the same system continues along the second patio. It softens the glare over the pool deck while keeping the view intact.

A quick note on the fit: cable guided blinds are excellent for cutting back sun, heat and glare, and for handling tricky or angled openings like this one. Because they run on wire rather than a full enclosed track, though, they’re not built for strong wind sealing. If full wind protection is the priority for your space, a standard track-guided Ziptrak® Outdoor Blind is the better fit. It’s worth chatting to the team about which suits your particular opening.

For a tricky, multi-angled alfresco like this, Ziptrak® Cable Guided Blinds can help:

  • Block harsh sun and glare across angled or pitched openings
  • Reduce heat build-up over an outdoor kitchen, dining or pool area
  • Follow tight corners and roof angles that a standard track can’t manage
  • Protect outdoor cooking setups and furniture from prolonged sun exposure
  • Keep sightlines and airflow open while still cutting the worst of the glare
  • Retract fully out of the way when the shade isn’t needed
