Installed in: Forrestfield, 6058
This Forrestfield patio runs between the house and a Colorbond shed, with one end left open to the side courtyard. That single gap was enough to let the afternoon sun and the wind straight through, so the patio was never quite as comfortable as it should have been.

One Ziptrak® Outdoor Blind now closes it off. At around 2.3m wide and 2.5m high, it’s fitted inside the opening in an aluminium hood box, with a new 50×50 aluminium post on one side to give the blind a solid edge to run on. Custom flashing was made to sit above the hood box, and trims were added between the post and the slab, so the whole install looks like it was always part of the patio.
The blind is made up in Vistaweave® 95 mesh in Ironstone, with all aluminium components powder coated in Ironstone to match the patio rafters and door frames. The colour match makes the blind feel built in, and the 95% UV mesh cuts heat and glare while still letting air and light through. It’s manually operated, so it can be pulled down or rolled up in seconds and stopped at any height.

Sometimes it only takes one blind to finish a space. With that last gap closed, the patio is now shaded and sheltered on every side.
For a patio like this one, a Ziptrak® Outdoor Blind can help:
- Close the last open side of a patio in one neat run
- Block up to 95% UV and cut the heat of the afternoon sun
- Shelter the space from wind blowing through the side courtyard
- Blend in with a powder coat colour matched to the existing frame
- Stop at any height with easy manual operation
- Make a good patio a great one with a single, simple addition
