This Australind courtyard is small and low-maintenance, with a neat strip of synthetic turf, a colorbond fence, and just enough room for outdoor furniture. The problem was the close proximity to the neighbouring property, so evenings out there meant being in view of next door, conversations carrying straight over the fence, plus the usual run of mozzies and flies drifting through with the breeze. The two blinds run 4m and just under 3m. Both are made up in Visiontex® mesh in Java, with 94% UV protection, and finished in Surfmist to match the home’s existing trim. With the blinds down, the courtyard is screened off from next door, no more every conversation carrying straight over the fence, and no more waving away insects every time the door opens. Posts and infill panels finish off both ends of the run, so it reads as a clean, boxed-in space rather than an open-ended blind.

The courtyard sits tight between the house and the fence, so there wasn’t much room to work with. Fitting the posts and infill panels into that narrow footprint meant no wasted space and no gaps where bugs or a neighbour’s eye could get through.
