Q: How long does the TYB004-U solar panel take to fully charge the WSERD50-B?

Charging time depends on sunlight exposure, but in typical Perth sun the TYB004-U is sized to keep up with normal daily blind use indefinitely. For installs that cycle more often, the panel will continue topping the battery up between cycles so it never runs flat.

Q: Where should I mount the solar panel for best results?

The panel works best mounted where it gets direct sun for several hours per day. North or west facing positions are ideal in Perth. The matching TYB-bracket lets you angle the panel for the best sun exposure on the head box, wall or fence.

Q: Will the solar panel work on a shaded fence or wall?

It will still trickle charge, but in heavy shade you may need to plug in the ALDC 5V USB-C charger occasionally as a top up. If your install is mostly shaded, talk to our team about the larger TYB007 solar panel that is launching later in 2026.

Q: Is the TYB004-U solar panel weatherproof?

Yes. The TYB004-U is rated to IP66 for full weather protection and has a working temperature range of minus 10 to plus 65 degrees Celsius, so it is built for Perth summers and the wider Western Australian climate.

Q: Can I use a third party USB-C charger with the WSERD50-B?

We strongly recommend sticking with the included ALDC 5V 2 Amp charger or the TYB004-U solar panel. Off the shelf USB-C chargers vary widely in voltage and current and using the wrong one can damage the motor’s battery management system and void the warranty.

Q: Can I add more than one solar panel to a single motor?

A single TYB004-U is enough for almost every install. If your install has very limited sun or runs unusually high cycle counts, the larger TYB007 (launching later in 2026) is the better path. Get in touch and we will spec the right charging setup for your blinds.
